Russia reintroduces toxic Euro-2 petrol after Ukraine hit its refineries
Russia has reauthorised the production and sale of Euro-2 petrol — a fuel withdrawn a decade ago — after Ukrainian strikes severely damaged its refinery capacity. Euro-2 contains many times more sulphur than current fuel standards and can cause serious damage to modern engines and catalytic converters. The move highlights the strain that the war is placing on Russia's oil-refining infrastructure.
