Suspected co-founder of Marseille's DZ mafia arrested in Algeria

Mehdi Laribi, one of the suspected founders of the DZ mafia — a criminal organisation based in Marseille — was arrested in Algeria in late July. French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin announced the arrest on Wednesday, praising Algerian cooperation in combating Mediterranean drug trafficking. The DZ mafia is one of the main criminal groups linked to drug smuggling in southern France.
