Iran and Oman near deal on Strait of Hormuz — without US involvement

Iran announced Wednesday that negotiations with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz are in their "final stage," while denying any US involvement in the talks. President Trump had recently insisted a deal to reopen the critical waterway was imminent. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.
