IMGW warns: unplug devices during storms — lightning can strike through power lines

Poland's Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW-PIB) warns that staying indoors during a storm does not guarantee full safety. A dangerous electrical surge can enter a home through power lines even if lightning strikes far from the building. The agency recommends physically unplugging devices from outlets rather than simply switching them off with a remote or button.
