Astrophysicist calls for international space traffic agency after SpaceX rocket hits Moon

Astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell of Durham University's SPARC warns that a four-tonne SpaceX rocket stage accidentally striking the Moon has exposed a critical institutional gap in space traffic management. While the impact poses no danger to Earth, unmanaged space debris could threaten future astronauts and scientific installations during the coming era of sustained lunar activity. McDowell is calling for an international space traffic control agency to be established before lunar exploration expands further.
