Tusk appoints first court assessors bypassing Nawrocki, calls it a "constitutional conspiracy"

Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday 5 August signed the first judicial assessor appointments, bypassing President Karol Nawrocki, whom the government accuses of failing to fulfil his constitutional duty. Tusk said the president and the Constitutional Tribunal had formed "something resembling a political conspiracy to break the constitution." The dispute centres on the interpretation of presidential powers in the process of appointing judges and assessors.
