Antarctica's Blood Falls harbour traces of ancient life, new research finds

Scientists have analysed samples from Antarctica's Blood Falls — a striking phenomenon where red liquid resembling blood flows from glaciers — and found traces of ancient life. The red colour is caused by iron compounds oxidising on contact with air. The findings bring researchers closer to resolving the long-standing mystery surrounding the unusual natural feature.
