EU electrification plan unlikely to cut energy prices soon, companies warn

The European Commission presented a new electrification action plan in mid-July aimed at accelerating the shift away from fossil fuels in industry, transport and construction. Energy companies are sceptical, however, that the plan will translate into lower electricity prices any time soon. Analysts say the transformation will be lengthy and any consumer price benefits are likely years away.
