Italy lays keel of second composite minesweeper at Sarzana shipyard

Italian shipyard Intermarine in Sarzana has begun laminating the hull of the second in a new class of composite-material minesweepers for the Italian Navy. The vessels use plastic composite hulls to minimise their magnetic signature, making them harder to detect by magnetic mines. The ceremony marks a further step in the expansion of Italy's naval capabilities.
