Mexican politicians file antitrust complaint against Sony over end of physical game support

Mexican federal deputy Iraís Reyes and senator Luis Donaldo Colosio have filed a complaint against Sony with Mexico's National Antitrust Commission. They argue that PlayStation charges customers for ownership while only granting rental-like rights. The politicians highlight Sony's January 2028 deadline, after which new games will only be available via the PlayStation Store — a move they say will create monopolistic conditions, eliminate the resale market and give Sony unchecked control over pricing.
