FDA approves Takeda's Orzeyful, a novel orexin-based pill for type 1 narcolepsy
The FDA has approved Orzeyful, a twice-daily pill made by Takeda for narcolepsy type 1 — a condition causing daytime sleepiness and muscle weakness. It is the first orexin receptor agonist approved for the disease, offering an alternative to stimulants and sodium oxybates, which carry misuse risks. In two Phase 3 trials, Orzeyful kept patients awake significantly longer than existing treatments.
