Iran's president says contact with supreme leader is "very difficult" after strike
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was "very difficult" following the US-Israeli strike in which Khamenei was reportedly wounded and his father killed. Pezeshkian nonetheless defended Khamenei against growing speculation about his prolonged absence from public view. The situation is fuelling questions about Iran's internal political stability.
