SMOKE#SCREEN campaign uses fake Zoom and Adobe updates to install remote-access malware

Security researchers at Securonix have uncovered a malicious campaign called SMOKE#SCREEN, which tricks users into installing weaponised ScreenConnect remote management software via fake Zoom and Adobe update prompts and fraudulent business documents. Once installed, attackers gain persistent remote access, disable security protections and abuse trusted services like Dropbox and Cloudflare for payload delivery. Victims have been observed on both Windows and macOS; organisations are urged to verify updates only through official vendor sites.
