Brain stimulation reshapes neural assemblies and triggers gene programs

Stimulating the human cortex reorganises neural assemblies and induces cell-type-specific gene regulatory programs, a new study shows. Researchers developed an ex vivo framework linking stimulation parameters to both circuit-level and transcriptional responses. The findings could guide the design of more targeted neuromodulatory therapies for conditions such as depression and epilepsy.
