Amygdala astrocyte cilia disrupted by stress — restoring them eases stress behaviour
Primary cilia on astrocytes in the amygdala are disrupted during stress, and restoring their function improves stress-related behaviour in mice, a new study finds. The findings point to a previously unknown cellular mechanism underlying stress disorders. The results suggest astrocyte cilia as a potential new therapeutic target for conditions such as anxiety and PTSD.
