Record-resolution sun images may solve the corona temperature mystery

Using the Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii, astronomers captured the highest-resolution images of the Sun's surface ever taken, revealing structures smaller than 20 km across. The images show golden bands and swirling vortices in a magnetically active region near a sunspot. Scientists hope the unprecedented detail will help explain why the Sun's corona is millions of degrees hotter than its surface.
