Saudi-owned EA plans $700M in cuts including layoffs after $18B debt buyout

Electronic Arts has passed into private ownership under Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, with shareholders receiving $210 per share. The company took on $18 billion in debt, generating roughly $1.8 billion in annual interest payments. EA has told debt investors it will cut $700 million in annual costs, including $170 million in "organisational costs" — widely understood to mean significant layoffs.
