Gene-edited beagles lack key allergen protein, offering hope for dog allergy sufferers

Scientists at a biotech company have used gene editing to produce two beagles whose saliva and hair no longer contain a key allergy-causing protein. One of the researchers, Matt Walker, who previously couldn't pet a dog without sneezing, can now play with his beagle Bailey allergy-free. The development raises the prospect of hypoallergenic dogs for people with allergies.
