UN: Iran executed at least 56 people since March to suppress post-uprising dissent

UN Human Rights chief Volker Türk warned of a sharp surge in executions in Iran, with at least 56 people put to death since March. The UN says the executions are being used to suppress dissent following the January uprising. Türk called for an immediate halt to the practice.
