Wayve and Uber approved to carry passengers in self-driving taxis in London

Transport for London (TfL) has licensed 15 vehicles operated by startup Wayve and Uber as Private Hire Vehicles on a trial basis, allowing them to carry members of the public in autonomous cars. The vehicles are designed to drive themselves, but TfL rules require a licensed driver to be present and responsible at all times. Wayve plans to begin rides for a small number of passengers later this summer ahead of a full public launch.
