Millions of American children serve as family caregivers for sick relatives
The U.S. healthcare system increasingly depends on family caregivers, and millions of those caregivers are children. Kids end up providing medical assistance to sick or disabled relatives because the healthcare system places the burden of care on whoever lives in the household. The issue remains poorly studied and largely unsupported by formal systems.
