Intel licenses Atom CPU architecture to startup RosaicLabs

Intel has granted startup RosaicLabs a rare license to its Atom processor architecture, sharing register-transfer level (RTL) code that lets the company design custom low-power x86 chips. Atom has historically powered embedded devices and networking equipment. Intel has been shifting its low-power strategy toward newer E-Core designs, likely motivating it to commercialise the older Atom technology.
