SoCal Edison tower sparked deadly Eaton Fire that devastated Altadena, probe finds
California's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the LA County Fire Department concluded that an out-of-service Southern California Edison transmission tower ignited the deadly Eaton Fire in January 2025. The blaze nearly wiped out the community of Altadena, north of Los Angeles. SoCal Edison power lines had been suspected as the cause since the fire broke out.
