New MLS commissioner Larry Berg rules out promotion and relegation "anytime soon"

Larry Berg, co-owner of Los Angeles FC and incoming MLS commissioner, was officially introduced to media and league staff on Tuesday. He said at his introductory press conference that promotion and relegation — long debated for North American soccer — is not "appropriate" for MLS and won't be coming anytime soon. Berg takes over from Don Garber on 1 January 2027.
