Italy puts all 27 major cities on red heat alert — temperatures top 40°C in record warning

Italy's Ministry of Health issued its highest red heat alert for all 27 major cities on Thursday, the broadest such warning since extreme temperature monitoring began. Temperatures are exceeding 40°C in many parts of the country.
