French forest fires unearth over 400 WWII unexploded munitions near Le Porge
More than 400 shells, grenades and other unexploded munitions from World War II were found near Le Porge in the Gironde department of France after devastating forest fires swept the area. The blaze triggered explosions of some buried ordnance, bringing the dangerous wartime remnants to the surface after more than 80 years. Bomb disposal teams were called in to secure the site.
