Tom DeLay warns Trump's FCC lacks authority to scrap 39% TV ownership cap
Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay wrote an op-ed arguing that the FCC has no legal authority to eliminate the National Television Ownership Rule, which prevents any single broadcaster from reaching more than 39% of US TV households. DeLay says he helped write the law and that the 39% cap was set by Congress, not the FCC, meaning only Congress can repeal it. Despite the warning, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has scheduled a vote on eliminating the cap for Thursday.
