For the first time, more enterprise IT workloads run off-premises than on-site

The Uptime Institute Global Data Center Survey, covering over 800 data center owners and operators globally, found that third-party facilities now host 46% of enterprise IT workloads — surpassing the 44% still running inside corporate-owned server farms for the first time. AI infrastructure is driving rack power requirements to record levels, while rising electricity costs continue to squeeze data center operating budgets. The survey drew 52% of responses from North America and Europe.
