US Senate advances Todd Blanche as Trump's attorney general nominee

The US Senate advanced Todd Blanche's nomination as attorney general on a party-line vote after a last-minute deal won over Republican holdouts John Cornyn and Thom Tillis. Concerns had been raised by senators over the so-called weaponisation of the justice system, the Epstein case and abortion policy. Blanche still needs 50 Senate floor votes to be confirmed.
