Fructose may help ovarian cancer cells escape and spread after chemotherapy

Researchers have found that ovarian cancer cells surviving chemotherapy may release fructose, helping neighbouring tumour cells loosen and spread. The discovery suggests that high-sugar diets and cholesterol-lowering drugs could influence cancer progression. The effects have not yet been confirmed in human patients.
