Polish government wants to expand use of electronic ankle bracelets instead of prison

The Polish government approved on Tuesday a draft amendment to expand the use of electronic monitoring, commonly known as ankle bracelets. The change would allow more convicts to serve their sentences outside prison walls, with the stated aim of reducing overcrowding in penitentiaries. The bill will now proceed through further legislative stages.
