Scientists convert unsorted mixed plastic waste into high-purity hydrogen

Scientists have developed a method for converting mixed plastic waste — including PET, PE and PP — directly into high-purity hydrogen without pre-sorting. The process operates at lower temperatures than existing methods and retains most carbon in solid form, reducing emissions. The technology could significantly advance plastic recycling.
