UK plastic waste found polluting irrigation canals in Turkey's farming heartland
A Guardian investigation found high levels of microplastics in irrigation canals on Turkey's fertile Çukurova plain near Adana, one of the country's largest agricultural basins. The polluted waterway, fed by plastic waste from British companies, floods into crop fields during heavy rain. Turkish farmers say nobody is taking action on the problem.
