Hungary nearly shut down Paks nuclear plant overnight due to Danube drought crisis
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said the Paks nuclear power plant came "within millimetres" of a complete shutdown overnight on Monday-Tuesday due to record low water levels in the Danube. The last turbine continued operating and water levels rose by 1.5 cm by morning. The Danube drought is creating serious challenges across south-eastern Europe.
