Record winter day in Sydney ERs — public told to stay away unless life at risk
Nearly 10,000 patients presented to Sydney emergency departments on Monday — a record for a single winter day in New South Wales, roughly 1,000 above the average. Health minister Ryan Park urged the public to avoid emergency rooms unless their life is at risk. Medical staff are bracing for what they describe as the worst three weeks of the year as the winter flu season peaks.
