UK GP breast cancer guidelines miss 95% of women who will develop the disease
Research from the University of Cambridge and the Institute of Cancer Research, London, found that NICE criteria used by GPs in England fail to identify 95% of women under 50 who will develop breast cancer within 10 years. As a result, the vast majority of at-risk women are not referred for further risk assessment or preventive care. Scientists are calling for an urgent review of the current guidelines.
