Mercedes CEO: governments should not dictate what customers buy

Ola Källenius, CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Group, has backed decarbonisation and electrification of the automotive sector while calling for flexibility in how the transition is managed. He warned that overly rigid state regulations risk destroying economic value and distorting the market. Customers, he argued, should be free to choose their powertrain rather than be mandated to do so by law.
