Apple faces $30 billion class action over Photos face recognition

A judge has greenlit a class-action lawsuit against Apple alleging the company violated Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) through the face recognition feature in its Photos app. The case could expose Apple to more than $30 billion in liability. BIPA is one of the strictest state-level biometric privacy laws in the United States.
