Leading 34:29 with just four minutes remaining, Poland failed to hold on and lost the match, which was crucial in the race for a quarterfinal spot. Despite coming from the bottom seeding pot and advancing from the first phase, the team coached by Wojciech Jedziniak was unable to convert their commanding late lead.
