Alexandra Eala beats Pegula to win DC Open and make WTA history for Philippines

Alexandra Eala became the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour singles title, defeating top seed Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at the DC Open in Washington. The 21-year-old trailed by a set when the rain-hit final was suspended overnight on Sunday, then turned the match around spectacularly on Monday. It is her first WTA title and caps five straight wins over top-10 players.
