Cherry prices collapse — Poland's competition watchdog to probe possible cartel among buyers

Agriculture Minister Stefan Krajewski has asked Poland's competition regulator UOKiK to investigate the cherry purchasing market following a sharp drop in prices. Growers warn that current rates do not cover production costs and that buyers are refusing to collect fruit. The ministry wants to determine whether price reductions at processing plants violate fair competition rules. "We have been put in a deadlock situation," producers say.
