Romanian navy blasts Danube riverbed to protect Cernavoda nuclear plant

Romania's military detonated part of the Danube riverbed to redirect the river's flow towards the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant. The operation was aimed at ensuring a sufficient supply of cooling water for the plant's nuclear reactors. The unusual measure was taken in response to low water levels in the Danube.
