SpaceX set to acquire 130,000 acres of Louisiana marshland for new launch site

SpaceX is close to finalising a deal with the state of Louisiana to acquire around 130,000 acres of marshland along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast. Governor Jeff Landry is expected to announce the agreement later this month. The land, known as Pecan Island and located southwest of Lafayette, became available through a legal settlement holding ExxonMobil liable for pollution and coastal land loss.
