Hepatitis A cases in Poland nearly quadruple: 1,413 infections reported by mid-July
Poland's Chief Sanitary Inspector reports 1,413 confirmed hepatitis A cases by mid-July — nearly four times more than in the same period last year. The disease, known colloquially as the "dirty hands disease", is transmitted via the faecal-oral route. Hygiene violations were found in roughly 15 percent of holiday facilities inspected in July.
