Rhine, Danube and Po hit record lows as drought grips Europe

Water levels in the Rhine, Danube and Po rivers have fallen to record lows due to a prolonged European drought. The low water is curtailing the transport of goods by river and reducing electricity output from hydroelectric and thermal power plants that rely on river cooling. The crisis threatens supply chains and energy infrastructure across the continent.
