EU AI Act Article 50 in force: chatbots and deepfakes must now be labelled

Article 50 of the EU AI Act came into force on 2 August 2026, requiring disclosure of chatbot interactions, deepfakes and some AI-generated content. Users should see more labels and markers on AI content as a result. The rule does not, however, mandate labelling of every piece of content that merely touched AI in its creation.
