Spokane-area wildfires burn 31 sq km, forcing mass evacuations in Washington state

Wildfires in and around Spokane, Washington state, burned approximately 31 square kilometres by early Monday, forcing local residents to evacuate. Hundreds of structures were destroyed and the sky was filled with thick smoke and haze. Firefighting efforts are ongoing across the affected area.
