Zelensky appoints Umerov as head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed chief negotiator and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service. Ihor Klymenko, previously interior minister, will take over as secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. The reshuffle, announced in July, also included the dismissals of Defense Minister Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief Gen. Syrskyi, with Zelensky citing the need for "more strength" in wartime leadership.
