After Ceuta surge: Spain calls for EU solidarity as death toll reaches at least 72
Most of the estimated 60,000 migrants who rushed into Ceuta have since returned to Morocco. Spanish authorities confirmed at least 72 deaths linked to the border crossing of July 30–31. Former Spanish Justice Minister and current MEP Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar called for European solidarity as Spain reckons with the aftermath.
