Ministry drops free tap water obligation for restaurants from packaging bill

The Ministry of Climate and Environment dropped a provision from the packaging and waste bill that would have required restaurants to provide customers with 0.5 litres of free tap water. The clause has been removed from the draft legislation. The rule was intended as part of efforts to reduce plastic waste.
